After twenty-one years employed as a cartographic draughtsman, Peter changed career to that of a full time greeting card artist. His first employment as an illustrator was with Carte Blanche Greetings. After three years he went to work as an artist for Hallmark. He was there for five years before setting up his own studio to provide artworks for Simon Elvin, Nigel Quiney, Paperlink, Wishing Well Studios, Moonpig and UK Greetings.
He left the Greeting card industry in 2009 to concentrate solely on fine art painting.
He was tutored in oil painting techniques by a professional oil painter.
Peter has been a full time professional artist since 2009.
The main aim of his Naive oil paintings is to produce a feel good factor. Illustrating warm summer days at the seaside is a great way to achieve this as a lot of people will have fond memories of days spent at the beach and hopefully his paintings will remind them. A feature of his style is the crowds of people, painted in strong, bright oil colours.
Peter has now added a new style to his portfolio. An example of this can be seen on his Fine Art gallery page under the title 'Loneliness'. This painting was selected and exhibited by the Royal Academy of Arts for its 250th Summer Exhibition 2018. The painting sold on the VIP night. Another of Peter's paintings 'An Unreceptive Audience' was shortlisted for the Royal Academy of Arts Summer Exhibition 2020 Another of Peter's paintings 'Brighton Palace Pier' was shortlisted for the Royal Academy of Arts Summer Exhibition 2021
